Magic, A Misunderstanding

Magic. Such a misunderstood word.

Usually when I talk about magic, people envision cauldrons, wands, and pointed hats.

Thanks Disney.

But, when we look at the definition of magic, we see something different — something more accurate.

Magic is defined as, an extraordinary power or influence, seemingly from a supernatural force.

Now, let’s look at supernatural (another misunderstood word).

Supernatural is defined as, a manifestation or event attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding. Departing from what is usual or normal, especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature.

Magic is extraordinary power or influence departing from what is usual or normal.

Here we have yet another misunderstood word — power. Since, we have the dictionary out…power is the ability to direct or influence the course of events. The ability to do — to act.

You have the ability to act outside of the norm, to change the course of events in your life. That is magic.

Doesn’t seem so weird when we put it that way, does it?

Now that we’ve made it un-weird, our next challenge is to make it acceptable.

We have been taught to shy away from our power. That to seek power is bad, evil even. Just be normal why don’t you?

Do what’s expected, don’t make waves, follow the rules, and all will be well.

But, it’s not well, is it? No. It’s not well at all. And, you know it.

How. In. The. Fuck. Do. We. Make. It. Well?? We use our extraordinary power and influence. We use our magic.

We intentionally depart from the norm, so that we can manifest that which we desire.

Imagine what your life would look like if you had unusual power and influence over the daily details? It would almost be like you do have a magic wand. Except, the wand is not necessary. It is you who is magic. No props required.
